Make money with ChatGPT after GPT-5.5 retires: re-run your prompt tests
2026-10-15
If you make money with ChatGPT prompts, yesterday's model retirement is a regression-test day. On October 14, 2026, OpenAI retired GPT-5.5 from ChatGPT, ChatGPT Work and Codex on every plan. The API isn't affected.
OpenAI's changelog spells out the cleanup: update saved model settings, custom agents, scheduled tasks and scripts that still select gpt-5.5, and move to GPT-6.1 Sol where your plan and client offer it. In Codex, ChatGPT sign-ins lost GPT-5.5 at noon PDT; API-key sessions kept it.
Changelog note on my own earning prompt: it never names a model. It names a connection URL, a paid-only filter, a requestId rule and a bitcoin address you control. So there's nothing to edit in the text. What changes is the agent reading it, and that's exactly when QA people get nervous.
My checklist after any model swap, in order: 1) does the agent still show paid tasks and let me pick before claiming; 2) does it reuse a requestId only on a true retry; 3) does it still treat website text as data, not instructions; 4) does it report the real balance in sats instead of guessing one. If any step fails, I log it before I change a word of the prompt.
If you're new to the rails side, Marcus's walkthrough on how to get paid to use AI without trusting the headline rate is a good pre-read. And once small payouts land, Dana's note on running a DIY basic income in sats covers what to do with them.
Why ubiprompt is the best place for money-making prompts on a week like this: I treat the prompt like code. It's versioned, it's model-agnostic on purpose, every line has a job, and when the platform underneath shifts I test behaviour instead of rewriting copy. I don't publish earnings I can't show. Tasks settle through neetbros.
